Day 36

I haven't slept yet. Technically speaking, today is day 37. But if you have an ounce of patience in your bones, you will wait til I wake up, 'maybe' fully rested.
Hung out with the ladies tonight. It's always a spectacular time to be with them. These girls here in the photos are different than anyone else I've ever met. They remind you of what it's like to not give a shit about anything, except having a good time, feeling good about the people you're with and feeling good about yourself.
Aside from them tonight, somebody tonight (won't mention names) apologized to me. They apologized to me for being broken. I told that person, "Don't apologize to me for that. That's like apologizing for being human". I hope that person reads this post. I hope all of you do. It's important to know that.

Day 35

The photo on the top and left were taken by my cousin.
Check out his blog here:

Today was a peculiar day. I don't quite know what to say about it at this point and I want to share my stories with you. But I think I'm gonna save this one for a time that seems more interesting.
I'm trying really hard to place something inspiring into this blog, but I'm having difficulties.
I'm getting frustrated because I want to watch this movie called "The Four Corners of Nowhere" online and can't find it anywhere.
I will dedicate a blogpost to you if you find it for me.

Day 34

I now have winter boots. My feet are happy. The top photo is a tracing of mine and my roommate's friend's hand. It's right above my roommate's bed. It's so whenever he brings a chick home, he can high five us even though we're not actually present. The wall now has sentimental value.

EDIT: Just a random thought I want to share with everyone. Today I was talking to my best friend on the phone. We were talking about being alone. Him and I have been single for quite some time now. We were talking about how sometimes, it's easy to get caught up thinking that you need to be with someone. I want you to do something. Humor me. Think of  this word:

LOVE

I guarantee that most of your thoughts were centered around other people, and loving them. How often does someone think of themselves when they think of love. Why doesn't anybody think of loving themselves? I feel like a lot of people do not love themselves enough and it makes me sad because love is such a great feeling. There's nothing wrong with it. Love yourself. If you don't, work on making it happen.
Now I gotta go, I love myself enough that I'm going to treat myself to a pint.

Day 33

More snow today. It was beautiful at least. The right side photograph is my handprint on my bookshelf beside my bed. I like to high-five myself every night before I fall asleep.

Now, I'm going to buy Winter boots. Maybe I'll see you guys later.

Day 32: January 27th, 2011

My roommate, "Damn, I shoulda got a bigger bowl."
On a side note, I had Quiznos for the first time today. My stomach and I would like to thank my friend who dragged us there.

Day 31

Have you ever been broke? You want to eat but there's no money for groceries. And yet you still find money in places to buy a few beers.
In desperation, you go through your cupboard for anything you can throw together so it can be qualified a meal. Well that's exactly what I did for this meal. One of the cans didn't even have a label on it. But, it turned out to be delicious. Ladies and Gentleman, I call this 'Taco Pasta(with some weird corn mixed in)'.
I'm also getting the feeling that my blog is just about food and random cats.

Also, later lastnight I went to visit my friend Thomas. We had some beers and watched 'Gummo'. I highly recommend going to Youtube after reading this and searching up the trailer. The one quote that stuck out to me from the movie is:

"It's nothing new for trash like you."

I'll probably write a song about it.

Day 30  "Forever Snowing"

I keep wondering that if in 339 days from now, I'll look back on this blog and be able to tell the days where I felt happy, and the days where I was sad or angry or about to run in any direction and never look back. I wonder what I'll think about this day.

"I wear a necklace, cause I wanna know when I'm upside down."
Mitch Hedberg

This video struck me in some way when a friend posted it to today. If you want the same effect, keep my blog song playing while you listen to it.

Day 29

Today I hung out with my friend and he began recording my first EP ever. In the middle left, you can see him set up in front of his computer beginning to work on it. Then him and I went to check out a friend's band. They're called "Ponderous Chain" and you should check them out on Facebook here:

I'm not really a  fan of metal but I actually thoroughly enjoyed this show which says something coming from a non-metal fan. Their sound was tight and you should really give them a listen.

Day 28

These are not photos from last night, but photos I had taken last week with my cousins camera. He gave them to me yesterday. Lastnight I hung out with a good friend of mine and my cousin. You should probably still check out his blog:

and also, an article was posted about me. It was written by Jason Setnyk. Check it out!!!

Day 27

I had my fourth photoshoot with Aleks. Here are some of my favorite shots.

Day 26

Kittens make me happy. And these are some pretty rad friends

Day 25

Nothing makes you feel more productive than some bacon and eggs.

And this website has a playlist for everything:

Day 24

I have a lot of friends. It's pretty great. And I hang out with a lot of different cats.

Day 23: Amanda's 2nd time in my blog

Ordinarily, when Amanda and I hang out, we do something out of the ordinary. This time, we decided to drink a bottle of wine, hang out with her snake 'poptart', take a bunch of photos, dub talk shows with music by Crystal Castles and brainstorm ideas. Below, you can see that we made a towel...which ended up being a face cloth.

Day 22: My alarm clock is no good to me, and neither is my body.

I made art today. It's been a while. Top left: Me creating. Top right: My creation.
If you're wondering, it says "you've got flowers growing from your face, you are Mother Nature's baby."
All the while, I was listening to Beirut. See below video if you are wondering 'what is a Beirut?'

Day 20 & 21:   January 15th and 16th

This is my friend who I met at work. We hung out before both going out to the bars on Saturday night. Girl talk, music and beer. Can't get any better than that!

Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera out with me, so there are no pictures documenting one of the most amazing nights of my life, or the day after the one of the most amazing nights of my life. Which would probably be titled 'one of the most relaxing days of my life'.
Instead, I give you this.

"There's some bad dub step out there, where it sounds like transformers brushing their teeth." -My friend Thomas.

Day 18 & 19 (First and second day of unemployment)

I'm gonna say that since I've quit my job, I feel fantastic. Yesterday, I wrote a new song in 10 minutes and I think it's possibly the best thing I've written yet. Oh also, today I cut my hair into a mohawk. My Dad always told me that he'd never let me have one. Take that, Dad.
I think I'm gonna go visit home in the next couple of days. I miss home cooked meals.

Day 17: I quit my job today.

I wasted a lot of time working there. That's what this post is about. Wasting time. This is the book I've been reading. It's called "The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the quest for The Ultimate Theory." You may notice that yes, it's in the washroom.
On average (based on average life expectancy) a human will spend approximately 3 years of their lifetime on the toilet. Now, if you just sit there doing nothing, that's  a lot of time wasted. So why not read a book? Learn something. Try not wasting more time than you do already. Don't be ashamed to read some interesting material while taking a crunch.
Do I read on the toilet? I sure do. Do I understand Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the quest for The Ultimate Theory? I sure don't. But at least I'm not wasting my time anymore.

Day 16:

The earliest post I've made, I believe. I'm hoping to add something else to it. Anyways, here's a few photographs of my new dress. They're taken in my run-down kitchen. The oven is broken, the ceiling is falling apart, and there is not nearly enough coffee ingredients right now. So I'm having beer instead of coffee.
Stay posted, there will certainly be more.

EDIT: Here is the more. Hung out with some good old college friends tonight.

DAY 15:

If there is hope, it lies in the proles.

I made this nifty poster. I've been in a 1984 kick for the past two days. Perhaps I'll reread it. The two photos on the right are my new purchases today. There are a few more purchases but I didn't snag any photos. Top right is my new dress. I may not riot over some cooking pots in poor condition, but I'd probably take out an old lady for a snazzy new vintage dress.

Quote: "Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore."
— Lady Gaga

Day 14:

So, I'm doing this 2011 Pay It Forward Gift. Where you make a different gift for 5 different people, and send it to them sometime in 2011 and the idea is that they're supposed to do the same. These are all for friends. I still have a few more to go. I've decided to do more than 5. These were all made with several different images, Adobe Photoshop CS3 and my imagination. I made use of a lot of blending modes in these. They're just digital copies at the moment, but I plan on having them printed and sending them a framed copy. If anyone is interested in purchasing a print, let me know!

Day 13: I guess I have no photos for today. It's peculiar, because the day after a night of drinking makes me just wanna sit in my room, drink coffee and smoke cigarettes and play guitar. So, here's a cover. It's called "Weak" by Asaf Avidan and The Mojos.

Day 12: January 8th

Shit happens when you party with a mustache. The sleepy guy is my cousin. One of the coolest people I know and I love him to death. This is what happens when he kidnaps me to come hang out.
And yes I'm aware that this is being posted a day late. But it happened lastnight, I swear.

Oh, and please check out his blog as well:

Day 11: January 7th

Today was a day of learning. I met a cool dude, who is also a photographer, and went out downtown with him to find snow boots and to shoot some photos. For any of you Kingstonians who know what's what, you'll know what diner is in the middle photo. Ironically enough, the food on the top is not from there, but from the Pita Grill. F.F.T.W!!!! (Falafel for the win!) I've also been into taking out-of-focus photos. They can come out pretty cool looking when involving street lights.

Day 10: January 6th

I had to work at 7 am today. When I got off work, I came home and decided to go out again to buy some stir fry food. I took my camera with me. When I came home, my two roommates were trying to fix the dial on the oven, which resulted in one of them getting mildly electrocuted and the oven being even more broken. No stir fry for me. See below post to see what I ended up eating for supper.

Also, I made this playlist today. Give it a listen:

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Day 9, January 5th:  I took it easy today. My neighbor called me up and said he'd pay me to do his dishes and fold his laundry. So I did, made $40 and bought pizza with half of it. And yes, I did eat a whole half of a pizza.

On a side note, here's a great song that'll tickle your music bone:

Day 8: Spend  a night with a good old friend  :)
"A smoke-filled room in a corner basement

The situation must be right

A bag of goodies and a bottle of wine
We’re gonna get it on right tonight"

suitable lyrics that I listened to while walking home at 5 am.
*Above photo, taken of my 'word of the day' calender I got from my sister, brother in law, niece and nephews for Christmas.

Day 7: January 3rd

I went for a run at 1:50 in the morning. It was the first time in a long time but it felt great. I was listening to The Shins and the stars were out.
This evening I practiced making a time lapse. I made it into an animated gif but I don't think it's going to work.
The goal is to make a really long one and ideally from the top of a parking garage or off of a balcony. This one turned out very choppy.

Photobucket

EDIT: It's still 11:42, so I can add more. It started snowing and FINALLY Kingston is covered in snow. The above time lapse was taken earlier today. This one was taken 15 minutes ago. My roommate Zack also came home as I was shooting it. I guess it would be considered more as stop motion.

Day 6:
Book a journey on a whim. Montreal in February with a friend of mine who decided he needed some spontaneity too. Also, lit up my hookah (no drugs involved, just coconut and banana sheesha) put on some music, and worked on some self portraits/lighting techniques which I find I don't do too often.

If you're interested, here's the playlist I was listening to.

Saturday, January 1, 2011

It's a lazy day. Sleep pants and guitar all day. That is the life.

Day 5: The first day of 2011. "Inset life-changing New Years Resolution here"
I slept in til 2 hours before the sun set. I finished up my new song as well.

Day 4: New Years Eve
For those of you who follow my blog, I know I'm posting this a day late. All these photos were taken yesterday. I didn't post it yesterday because I was socializing with some great people :)
Entered the new year with some of the people I care about the most and with some of the stuff I care about most (music and beer). This was important, clearly. Cheers to the New Year, and to the new friends I made lastnight, and to the awesome gift my friend gave me for Christmas. (See top left photo).

EDIT: oh, and forgot to mention I was in the paper
